Highlights

  • Vista gets more of it's bits! Vista now has more 3D experience + the sidebar is back
  • WPF  & WCF now looking mature - Microoft Max is a great GUI experience -
  • LINQ - see here http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2005/sep05/09-13NETLanguage.mspx
  • Office 12  looks stunning plus has real features - check out storin Power Points slide by slide on WSS then composing a new presentation from those slides - also if the 'master' is changed so is the developed presentation.

Lowlight

  • During “Keynote" audiance advised they would have the chance to buy the iMate JASJAR (normall $1100) for $149. This meant some people bailed out to go and buy. The majority stayed and watched - of course. Only 1000 available so sold out while the majority watched the keynote. This really sucks. Microsoft should have had enough for all to buy.

  • Vim Search and Replace: The Ultimate Guide

One :%s command replaces every match in a file before a find dialog would even open. The Vim substitute patterns worth the muscle memory: flags, ranges, capture groups, and multi-file edits.
