In this Issue: Ian Walker, Delordson Kallon, Anton Polimenov, Gill Cleeren, Tau Sick, Colin Eberhardt, Kunal Chowdhury, Jag Reehal, Rob Eisenberg, Shawn Wildermuth, Alex Yakhnin, Slobodan Pavkov, and Deborah Kurata.

Shoutouts:

Jeremy Alles has an MVVM comparison chart up that's very complete: be sure to let him know if something is missing

No discussion or code, but this demo code shares between Silverlight and WP7:

New and untested:

This looks interesting, but I haven't tried it out: Animation Maker in Silverlight 3.0

Note: I modified the at SilverlightCream.com to display the latest entries on top. The dates are the date I added them to the database, so to catch up, just scrolll down to the last time you checked in.

From:

Ian Walker shows how to use XNA to solve a problem he had with sound on WP7... as he says, be sure you have the rights to use the sounds!

Delordson Kallon has a Silverlight OutlookBar control out on CodePlex... I've not tried running it, but the screenshots look great. Maybe I should replace my SL 1.0 one at WynApse.com with this:)

Anton Polimenov has his part 2 at SilverlightShow as well, and is discussing the remainder of the hardware requirements that he began with the last post

Gill Cleeren has part 2 of his duplex communication series up at SilverlightShow. In this episode, he's talking about sockets, and there's a warning to read part 1 first.

Here's something I do all the time in.NET -- add a 'nothing' entry to a ComboBox, but Tau Sick has it in Silverlight/WPF -- he says ask for the code, I hope he posts it.

Colin Eberhardt demonstrates exposing and binding to a ScrollViewer's scrollbars... check out the live demo at the bottom of the post... works great, and will make you want to grab the code.

Kunal Chowdhury has a tutorial up that really extends beyond the title... he's showing how to get the new Rupee symbol into a Silverlight app, but this also extends to other font characters as well (as long as it's free or you own it)... source included.

Jag Reehal has a post up discussing validating data in his MVVM calculator app using INotifyDataErrorInfo. He introduces the problem, then the solution, and all the code is explained.

Rob Eisenberg continues his Caliburn.Micro Soup to Nuts discussion and is talking about Actions... good reading material!

Shawn Wildermuth has a whitepaper up on his use of the Microsoft data stack in his GiveAQuiz site. Take the link... it's to his MSDN article and is a great tutorial... another 'required reading' post... thanks Shawn!

Here's a useful resource... Alex Yakhnin converted the Configuration block from Windows Mobile to WP7 and gives it up for all of us.

Slobodan Pavkov has a quick post up with all the source for a TextBox that updates immediately when it's binding has changed, so no more losing focus to get the change propogated.

Deborah Kurata has a to-the-point tutorial up for RIA Services and Silverlight... from end to end and the project code included.

Stay in the 'Light!
