Silverlight Cream for May 06, 2008 -- #268

Tamir Khason on DrawingBrush, Mike Taulty on Uploading to Silverlight Streaming, Jesse Liberty on creating controls in code, and Brad Abrams on Authentication, Profile, and Role Service.

From:

DrawingBrush and deep clone in Silverlight

Tamir takes off on the fact that we don't have a DrawingBrush, HatchBrush, or PatternBrush in SL, and then goes about digging into the DependencyObject with reflection and building his own wrap panel... yikes, did I actually use all those words strung together??... I've got some reading to do... meanwhile, read Tamir's article and see how well all this turned out!

Uploading Videos to Silverlight Streaming

Mike Taulty chafed at uploading files one at a time to SilverlightStreaming and has some sample code for an app he wrote to batch upload... that's gotta be useful:)

Creating Controls in Code

Jesse Liberty has a new video where he demonstrates building controls in code and discusses why you might want to do that, or not...

Accessing the ASP.NET Authentication, Profile and Role Service in Silverlight

Brad Abrams takes on the whole Membership/Role/Profile thing and shows how to access the WCF Application services from Silverlight. Seems interesting someone hasn't cracked that open before now, but hey.. it's here and we can all grab it, because Brad provided source:)

Stay in the 'Light!
