Caffine & Coders
Why is it that developers are drawn to caffine? Is it the late night coding, the need to stay awake when looking at a computer screen constantly? Is it the fact that you have to concentrate for hours on end... I have no idea... All I can say is that I as a coder need to have tea or even these days coffee around me when I code... I do wonder if I can code on a caffine free diet... maybe it is an experiment that I will have to conduct at some point ;) I never used to like coffee... these days I actually ......

What is personalisation to you?
A lot of companies are beginning to put a lot of emphasis on personalisation of software, systems and even hardware. I guess the question at some point has to be asked, what is personalisation to the individual? Surely personalisation is something different to each individual. It is not always about the stylisation of information, or even how that information is portrayed but also to some degree also about the way the systems are used, or even how you interact with the hardware. There have been a ......

Off over to Nice: MEDC Europe
I'm off over to Nice on Friday for a bit of a break from things and also for the Mobile Embedded Developer Conference, Europe. I guess I will catch some of you over there to catch up and also to share ideas etc. If you are going to be over there then do let me know. I will be in Nice from 2nd - 11th June. I will be out training for London to Brighton whilst I am out there, so long as I can manage to find or hire road bike that has look pedals on it. (for cleats... need practice with my road shoes) ......

London to Brighton: Training
Well I started to train for London to Brighton about 2 weeks ago… starting with setting my bike up, getting the gears set up for hills and fitting cleats to my bike. I’m not sure if that was a good idea or not yet… you see they are a little different to use than ordinary pedals… your shoe is attached to the bike and you have to twist your foot to get out of them…. I think you can see where this is leading… Well anyway my first ride out was around the countryside ......

WideOpen Magazine on London Girl Geek Dinners
I just thought I would put up the web URL of wide open's article on London Girl Geek Dinners. I was plesantly surprised by the article. It looks good and gives a pretty clear overview of the evening at the P & P where we did the 4th LGGD. Do I really look goth like at those things?! Hmmm... will have to work on that.. :S Anyway I will be looking out for other articles and write up's of our events and see what has been written about them and will post them here. Wide Open Article on LGGD4 ......

Round-Up: London Girl Geek Dinner 6
Last night gave way to our 6th London Girl Geek Dinner. It was a lot of fun and there were some really interesting people at the event. We had Celia Francis the CEO of talking and she was fantastic. Un-beknown to me when I asked her to talk was the fact that she is pregnant with a baby girl. :) Fortunately I had already decided that the event this time was going to be non-smoking.... mainly because it was an enclosed room and smoke would have made it quite uncomfortable for some of us ......

Go-Karting (Sooo much fun!)
Well I thought I would post a really non-techie post this evening as I had such a really fun evening out with some of the guys from my office! We all went to the Go Karting track in Andover. It was awesome. We were up against 10 other teams. :) And we were team no 11!!! (Which happens to be my lucky number as I was born on the 11/11) Anyway... there were 5 of us on our team including me and we were racing as a team for 2.5 hours. It was pure fun and adrenaline all the time. :) We started off in poll ......

Round-Up of London Girl Geek Dinner 5!
Firstly I have to apologise for not posting this sooner, I have been in my very own world of chaos this week. I am now catching up with it all and as such have finally got round to doing this! So here goes: I knew from the sign-up pages that the fifth London Girl Geek Dinner was going to be big and it really was quite busy. We had about 150 - 175 people there at this event but fortunately it didn't feel quite that busy because the venue (pitcher & piano, Bishopsgate) has a lovely big downstairs ......
