Theo Moore Questions... Morphology? Longevity? Incept dates?
Ok, I am an avid fan of superhero movies. I love 'em, I really do. Been a comic book fan for ages. Many a pre-teen and adult dollar has been spent to enjoy yet another adventure with the men and women of comics. The colours were bright, the heroes good, the villains very bad, and the fun most excellent.

I was never much of a Fantastic Four fan, though. I didn't dislike them, necessarily, I just never liked team books much. Teams were harder to follow, and honestly, I didn't identify with them very well (I was a loner in school). I liked the solo hero who needed no one except on rare ocassion (oh, the wonderful crossovers!).

Still, I was familiar enough with the book to be a little excited about seeing the movie. Given that I travel to my client's site each week, the Tuesday night movie has become a welcome break. I went expecting a good, entertaining (if shallow) movie.

What I got made me happy that Tuesday is $4 night with free popcorn. The film was just it was not to be believed. The acting was worse than I expected, really. And a note to anyone in Hollywood who is listening: fake coloured contacts make Alba's eyes look like dead fish eyes. It just didn't work at all for me.

I won't spoil anything, but I will say that I thought they handled the SS very poorly, and Galactus was handled terribly. I was so disappointed. Now, I will admit that I am hard person to please with movies, but even the other guy at the movie with me was disappointed. His standards are much lower than mine, for whatever that is worth.

Only a true fan of the FF could like this movie, and I bet even they would wish they waited for the DvD. Posted on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 10:54 PM | Back to top
