9's Clock!

A clock that has only 9's in it.
Having 9s does not make it special.... U can design a clock having only 9 with 9/9 (=1), (9+9)/9(=2), (9+9+9)/9(=3) and so on...

9clock

What makes it really amazing is the fact that... it has only 3 9s in each digit representation. ..

the representation for 1 is (9/9)^9; it is hard to see because of the glare but having seen this in a store that is what is used.

As for the 9 o clock it is the 9th root of 9^9

This clock was designed by members of the Triple Nine Society, a group for people who score above the 99.9th percentile on standardized intelligence tests. That's why each digit is made up of 3 nines. Their site is at http://www.triplenine.org/

The clock can be purchased at:

In response to the question about the seven o'clock equation:

The .9 with the bar above it represents repeating .9. In essence, it is .999999, with an infinite number of 9's following. This number is another representation of the number one. There are several mathematical proofs that show the equivalence of .9 repeating to the number one, which can be found by searching for '.9 repeating' in Google. They used this representation of the number one, I assume, to avoid using 9/9 again, and to keep with the theme of using three nines per hour. The '.999 repeating equals 1' thing is kind of a hot topic for internet debates at this point in time, so I'm sure doing a Google search will yield plenty of reading material on the subject.

but for 7 y it is 9-sqrt(9)+bar(.9)???
it can b 9-sqrt(9)+(9/9).

7 seems to be incorrect. You add before subtracting, therefore sqrt of 9 is 3, add .9 repeat to make 3.9, 9 - 3.9 is 5.1.

Someone doesn't know his OoP. When a problem is solved down to the addition and subtraction steps, you do whichever comes first from left to right.

So 9-3+.99999... = 7
