I'm sure I'll receive at least one comment about my source for this, but the points that Steven Milloy makes are really quite good.
The pattern of heating and cooling has been happening for the entire life of the planet. The world is a very big place, and we just don't know enough to say that we're changing the climate of the planet. As short as 30 years ago we had the popular press telling us we were going to have another ice age! Why would we think they're any more reliable now?
If you want proof, look how most global warming fanatics now use "global climate change" rather than global warming. The facts didn't support global warming, so they had to change their terminology.
In my very un-fact based opinion, global warming people have four causes for their beliefs:
- They receive lots of money to do the research.
- Their company receives lots of money to do the research.
- They're anti-capitalists or communists.
- They don't do research, and man being evil is appealing to them, so they believe the propaganda that they hear.
If you look at the real scientific data around global climate change, you'll see that at best, it's inconclusive (the result of many scientific studies where you don't have enough data).
In the true spirit of agile development, lets not do big design up front when we don't have enough data to make decisions.
