So for the past week or more there have been fireworks going off every night and all weekend. Tonight has obviously been the noisiest, I guess it's a local thing in Vancouver for Halloween and the Indian celebration of Diwali. Is this more of an Indian/Asian thing or is it just kids having fun? Anyone know?

In Montreal the only time we ever really had fireworks going off was during Greek Orthodox Easter and even then it was only for one night. I don't even know if they do it any more, I don't remember hearing any at all in the past few years.

There are quite a few areas around Vancouver where setting off fireworks is illegal and a today's poll on Canada.com has about 2/3 of the vote against fireworks.

Do you think that fireworks should be allowed for Halloween?
Yes 30.35 %
No 67.63 %
Not sure 2.02 %

I wonder how much longer they'll be allowed or if the period will be restricted at all. I think people will probably be setting off left over fireworks for at least the next few days...
