I had an interesting situation this past week. I have not ever had to migrate a web site (without a web application project) from VSS to TFS before. It turns out that there were some quirks that I had to work out. Here is what I came up with:

á

  • Create a blank and save it to a new location on your hard drive.
  • Copy the website to the folder on level below the solution you created in step 1. For example, if my website is located in the Contoso folder, my new setup would look like Figure 1.

    á

Figure 1.

á

  • In Visual Studio, right click the solution, select "Add", select "Existing Website" and select the folder you created in step 2.

á

  • Right click again on the solution and select "Add Solution to Source Controlà"

á

  • Open the solution from the location you selected in step 1.
  • Voila!

    á

    Happy Coding!
