For a while I have been trying different waysáof getting the tasks in my project plans into Team System.á For a time, I had settled on creating the Tasks in VSTS and then importing them into Project.á My rationale here was that it was much more difficult toáenter all of the information into either Excel or Project.á The problem that I have come across is that when you get into very large projects, it is not easy to create the Tasks one at a time.á To get around this, a good solution is to create a single Task in VSTS that has all of the basic information that you need. Edit this Task in Excelá(right click on the Task in Team Exploreráand select Edit in Excel).á Once ináExcel you will see an asterisk at the bottom of the Team Explorer area.á You can copy lines and past them on the row with the asterisk and it will create a new Task.á There are two things to be aware of when doing this.á The first is that anyánon-dropdown valueánot shown on the screen when you do the copy will be blank.á The second is that if you change a dropdown likeáState, you must also make sure thatáany corresponding drop downs have the correct value.?
