Installing the MVVM Light Toolkit

I just published a new version of the MVVM Light Toolkit. For more information about the toolkit in general, please refer to the Get Started page on my website. Also, more blog posts will follow soon and help you get started with the MVVM Light Toolkit, and also help you understanding how you can use it to solve various issues related to the development of View Model based applications in Windows Presentation Foundation and in Silverlight.

The installation procedure is explained in details on my website. Have fun!!

Why dont you create an msi to install the templates?

Hi,

An MSI is not completely trivial, because the user can change the location of his templates. However, a member of the community is now working on an MSI installer. I will blog when it is ready.

Thanks,
Laurent

Laurent, you have a paragraph on verifying installation, mentioning that the references should not be missing for your .dll's, but you don't provide a fix if that's the case. I can re-add the references manually, but I want them to be there when I use the project templates. How is this fixed? Also, when will the .msi be ready- that may be the fix that's required. Thanks.

Hi,

If the DLLs appear missing, the only fix is to reinstall the MVVM Light assemblies.

We are working on an installer to make the procedure easier.

Cheers,
Laurent

Hi Laurent I have been poking around i your documentation of MVVM light and I am complety sold to MVVM light. But I am having some problems installing mvvm light templates in Microsoft Visual Web developer express, it look's like your are only allowed to install online templates. Do you have a fix ?
