Well Mattel did another recall, today will some of the GeoTrax toys Brandon absolutely loves.  The recall states it was for the Red engine, however when I ran the numbers for the blue engine, it stated the recall was valid for it as well.  Looks like I will be sending it back shortly.

With all these recalls, I am starting to think that sticks and stones might not be a bad thing to play with.

I just called Mattel because all of my son’s trains were also on the recall list. But not the train that they described.
First they tried to tell me it was just the red engine with the yellow paint. I had to explain to him that I entered the train number and they all listed as recalled. He had to talked to a supervisor. And I was told that it was the yellow paint. Well ok but not all my trains have yellow. That and its only the engine that we are to send back. Well the whole train set has yellow.
I even entered a few of my larger pieces and it was also listed as recalled but when I told them that. I was told that at this moment it was just the engines that they were recalling.
I swear they don’t know what they are doing.
I have a feeling that in a few weeks that they will be recalling the rest of the train pieces

I am truly concerned about the GeoTrax recall. My step-son has almost the whole collection. I want the truth. I do not want him playing with any of the pieces until we get the whole story. He loves these toys. It will be hard to tell him that we must throw them away.

I recently, just checked the train pieces (engine and cargo pieces) and three the pieces (all yellow) were identified as recall. I completed the the form and wiill be sending them back to Mattel. I hate that this is happening. My son loves his Geotrax. I've purchased pieces for 3 years, he has almost the entire collection. I was going to purchase more for Christmans, but at this point, I'm not sure wht Toy is safe any more. I've recent;ly, began throwing the McDonals toys away from the Happy Meals.

The numbers are just a date code; as I read it, in order to be affected, it has to be:
1) the specific engine type they're talking about, AND
2) manufactured with a date code in the window..

So OF COURSE you're going to find other toys that have date codes that match -- just because it was made during that time doesn't mean it's affected.

That's like looking at a recall of 2% milk saying expiration dates between 9/10 and 9/18 should be thrown out, then freaking out because your 1% milk has an expiration date of 9/14..

I have to check but I think my son has that little red fireengine with the yellow paint. I would hate to have to send it in as he absolutly loves playing with the geotrax stuff. He has a ton of other geotrax stuff too, I hope the abpove poster who said it has to be the specfic engine type and with the date code. Maybe I will get lucky and and we have a different one. Gotta check 1st. Why can't they just makem in america. I would pay the extra bucks for something manufacted correctly!

I am really worried about these recalls my son almost has the whole collection from the time they came out. This can not be a new issue. How many toys are affected that they don't even know about!!

I am very concerned about the GeoTrax and not just the ones listed on the so called "recall". I just purchased some hard to find GeoTrax on ebay and I am concerned that they are filled with lead as well. If they no longer manufacture them how do they know they do not contain lead? Is this why they no longer manufacture them? I urge every one who purchases toys or anything else for that matter to stop buy things made in China. Not only are our children in danger but so are our jobs. How do we know that other things from China are not filled with lead? Dishes, anything painted? This would not be happening if these were made in the US and like the person above, I would pay a little more to know people are safe.

How much more are you willing to pay for Made in USA toys? 100%, 200% or 300%. What happen if I tell you that if these toys are made here in usa, you will pay up to 3 times more, will you take a chance with the Made in China toy now????

These toys will not cost 100%, 200% or 300% if the people getting the astronomical paychecks from Mattell stop being greedy. Where do you think all the profit goes from manufacturing these toys in other countries??? It isn't to pass along the savings to the consumer that's for sure. It is because people in other countries will work cheaper than people in the US, and it simply puts more money into the higher up's pockets. Our children are paying the price for it in the long run. And it really ticks me off.

PLEASE STOP PANICING AND READ THE RE-CALL INFO CORRECTLY

As stated by AP above, this involves only *one* model (and it is NOT a remote controlled one) that was produced within certain dates. The code on each piece shows ONLY THE DATE IT WAS MADE, so many different toys can have the same date code, but only this specific one (red engine with yellow side ladders and horns and blue windows). In fact the only paint that was contaminated was the tiny yellow part. Not that this is OK, but please don't unnecessarily throw away toys that are safe, or get upset at Mattel when you say that you have a piece that is affected but they disagree, because while it has the same date code, it is a different toy that was probably made in a different factory.

I worry about my childrens safety always. My grandon has just about every Geo Trax out there. He did have the red one that was recalled. I panicked as well about the rest but people were saying not to. I have decided to go and by a lead testing kit. I just hope the results you get from these testing kits are accurate and I hope the people at Mattel really do care about the children and make sure that the public is aware of any potential problems with any other Geo Trax pieces or engines. I'm sure you can conduct an investigation of what contractors or subcontractors painted every single Geo Trax piece from the beginning. Isn;t the Mattel name worth it and aren't the children worth it?

My son was so excited, he'd been asking for Geo Trax for 6 months, and now I find out they are affected by lead recalls too! I've designed a shirt that parents can wear to start sending a message about how we feel about these Chinese Toys.

I wish GeoTrax were made in the USA, even if they cost 3x as much (my kids could easily live with 1/3 the number of GeoTrax sets they currently have!). Sigh. But thanks for the reminder, I will double check their collection for recalled items.

I really think people just need to stop buying Mattel or Fisherprice toys because they can not be trusted, or any toys from China. I buy Playmobil toys for my kids lately. They are made in Europe.
