When running VS.NET 2002 or 2003, using multiple monitors, I get this little annoying extra window that popups up in the second monitor.  You can't get rid of it unless you minimize VS.NET and use another window to repaint on top of it.  Freaking annoying.  Here is a photo of the culprit.

I run with two monitors using .net 2003 and have yet to experience it.

I am running with two separate graphics cards and not Dual Head.

But I also grabbed the latest nvidia drivers too which allowed multiple spanning to work with windows remembering their last known position

I ran dual monitors for a while here and seem to remember something like that, a mysterious window mostly off the screen that should have been there at all... I never figured out what it was but after returning the TV in my living room to its rightful place as owner of my PC's 2nd monitor slot, I quickly forgot about the problem.
I use a 1999-era Matrox G400 DualHead.

Yep...got it, got it, get it. It is kind of annoying. I've been doing more modeling work lately, so I haven't had VS open as much, but I know I was getting pretty annoyed with it before. Another one I would get is, when building, a blank window would be openned in the extra monitor. I never figured this out and it didn't happen when I wanted to show someone, so I don't know why it happened.

Perhaps, in both cases, it might be because I am using VS in the alternate monitor. What are you doing? I doubt that would effect anything, but who knows.

Yeah, I've seen that, and not just on VS.NET, but any app that uses lots of child windows. It was a graphics driver issue. I change to a newer driver and the problem was resolved.

I've had the same damn problem, and all my colleagues have experienced the same thing. I run a Matrox Millenium G550 dualhead.

One way I've found of fixing it is by clicking the Minimize button on the dummy window, then click on vs.net in the task bar.

Anyone found a more permanent solution?

When I drag any window(say for example notepad) on my application, developed in VC++.net then I face problem in repaint of the text box on my application.I get this problem only in Win XP and not in Win 2000.
Please help if any one has faced this problem and has a sol. to it.

We are experiencing the same problem. It is only with Dual monitor. I also run Matrox Millenium G550 dualhead. Can anyone give us information on what version of newer driver would fix this ?
