Two months after the planned release date Microsoft has finally released the first Service Pack for Visual Studio .NET 2003. The downloadable executable is 156MB large and can be downloade from here. The release notes were already published earlier. When you install the SP you will notice some delays between dialogs and get the false impression that the installer has frozen. This is a known issue as outlined in the release notes.
Now we have to wait for the first Service Pack for Visual Studio 2005 which was targeted for release in Q3 2006, so either we should expect it this month or next month.
