Finland's Wife-Carrying Contest

Thanks to Chris Kinsman for the reminder, but the Finnish Wife Carrying Contest is happening this month in Sonkajärvi, Finland! I once tried to convince my Finnish wife that we needed to do this - but there was no way that she was going to agree! Probably just as well, as the people that enter are pretty serious athletes and I wouldn't of had much of a chance. Here is an example participant:

This the favored hold as it leaves the man to run at almost a free-sprint - though they have to go through shoulder-high water sometimes. There are some interesting rules and prizes for this competition. You lose 15 points for dropping your wife (I would lose more than that!!!) and the winner gets his wife's weight in beer. I'm serious....
