Edgardo Vega's Blog Making it through the day one post at a time

So I haven't been able to use NewsGator all day long. As soon as I found out that I could upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5, I started the upgrade. Well let me tell you what, that was a horrible idea. I couldn't upgrade because I was behind a proxy. If you want to upgrade, do not do it behind a proxy. For some reason it doesn't work. My guess is the code used to get feeds via a proxy is not the same code used in the upgrade wizard. As soon as I got home and tried to complete the upgrade it worked great. I choose the third option where it would merge my NewsGator Outlook subscriptions with my NewGator Online subscriptions as to not lose any subscriptions.

Overall it was a painless experience except that you cannot complete the upgrade behind a proxy that requires authentication not in plain text. I hope that tommorow when I get to work I will still be able to get to all my feeds.

I was a beta tester for the new version, and while v2.0 worked great for me behind my ISA proxy, I have yet to get the new version working behind a proxy server to download my feeds (or establish any communication) for that matter. Despite my insistance that this was a bug (especially since it worked so well with v2) the resolution from Newsgator was that the issue was on my end.
