Check out this entertaining article about the 10 worst portrayals of tech in film. I'd add a few others:
In one of the Lara Croft movies, Lara needs to destroy some computers before leaving with the information she just stole. So what does she do? She shoots the monitors. HA HA HA! Almost as funny as when Owen Wilson threw the computer on the ground in Zoolander and proclaimed "Where's the files?"
In Antitrust, there's a bigger technology falacy than viewing code off of cameras. Someone tell me how you play Diablo 2 with a controller?! He's jumping around with his barbarian as if it was some platformer, using a playstation-like controller. SO obviously not real.
The Wizard was probably one of the best movies-as-product-ads ever. (The Wizard was the Nintendo based movie with Fred Savage from way back in the day). First off, Double Dragon in the arcades never looked 8 bit to me. The Power Glove NEVER worked as well as it did in the movie. And I loved how Fred and his girlfriend knew what all the powerups meant in Super Mario 3 even though they had NEVER seen it before. Seriously...
CSI in the season ender from a year or so ago where one of the characters gets burried alive, but there's a webcam that's posting video to the web. Hmm...so unless they purchased server space in Europe, somehow paid in cash, and used a proxy server to route the data through so that the true IP couldn't be traced back, I would think it would have been a bit easier to locate where he was buried. And while we're talking about CSI, what freaking operating system are they using?! Whatever it is puts the new graphical abilities of Vista to shame!
Those are some I can think of...any others?
