Microsoft has been a great partner with Infragistics working very closely with us during the development of our WPF controls, and giving us opportunities to demonstrate the work we are doing at events like PDC and TechEd. The large scale demos (and honestly much of what we have also shown) have focused on the Carousel View of the control, usually because its a control that provides a lot of "wow" factor and really shows off the animation and 3D power of WPF. While that's cool, many times developers reaction is "amazing, but I would never use that in my apps".
What gets lost in these demos is the fact that the DataPresenter also includes a presentation mode that replicates the traditional Grid style presentation format.

The Tabular Presentation format, as this is known, gives you many of the traditional grid style features that your users are familiar with, including grouping, sorting, hierarchical data view and rich inline data editing, but combines those features with the great styling story of WPF giving you the power to include subtle animations and high fidelity.
So if your simply looking to provide your users with an evolutionary data bound grid user experience, rather than a revolutionary experience, then look for the Infragistics DataPresenter control to provide you a solution.
