You may have heard, some folks are wondering why they haven't received a stimulus check like everyone else. You may have even heard ME bitching about it, or maybe you're one of the ones affected. Here's what I got in my inbox today:

Dear Valued Customer,

We want to provide you with the most up–to–date information about the tax rebate to which you may be entitled.

Recently, you may have received a letter from the IRS advising you when to expect your Economic Stimulus Payment (rebate). That IRS letter may have inadvertently left off some important information. Taxpayers who chose to have their tax preparation fees deducted from their federal tax refund will receive their tax rebate in the mail, not via direct deposit.
Our records show that you chose this payment option in TurboTax. As a result, the IRS has determined that you will receive your tax rebate in the mail. This may result in you receiving your rebate on a date later than expected.

This situation, while not unique to TurboTax, is understandably causing some concern and confusion. To help further clarify the situation, below is the most current IRS rebate payment processing schedule, as well as additional resources about the tax rebates.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you still have questions, the best source for the most up-to-date information is www.irs.gov (see the "Rebate Payment Questions" link).
Sincerely,

Bob Meighan

Vice President, TurboTax Customer Advocacy

If the last two digits of your Social Security number are: Payments will be mailed no later than:
00 – 09 May 16
10 – 18 May 23
19 – 25 May 30
26 – 38 June 6
39 – 51 June 13
52 – 63 June 20
64 – 75 June 27
76 – 87 July 4
88 – 99 July 11

No ‘Stimulus Check’ Yet? Just Might Be In Some Other Guy’s Account.

The better half works at H&R Block, she has some real interesting stories of folks calling in demanding their "govmint money".

And yeah, along with the screwup/miscommunication over sending our paper checks when having a tax preparer deduct their fees from your direct deposit refund (thats a pretty bone-headed move IMO), there is also a large number of people not being properly "credited" the correct number of children. These folks will receive a *second* check somewhere down the road, most like a paper check.

I'm surprised this whole affair hasn't seen even more problems. The IRS is a lumbering dinosaur, asking it to do something both 1)new and 2)quickly is a sure recipe for colossal failure.

I got my notice today... $300 short.

I have four kids, all correctly listed on my return (if not, where's my audit notice, as I darn sure counted 4 in my calculations), all of them are 8 and under.

Tried to call, but volume is so heavy, they are taking NO calls (WTF?).

Just another shell game to distract from the real issues at hand.

My husband and I are both retired My husband draws a small pension from his former employer. We pay taxes on the pension but we have not gotten our money yet we file a tax form every year I would like to know if we are going to get a check or not and when. we have not even gotten a notice. We deserve the money just as well as any one else we worked all those years and paid our taxes too. what is wrong with this gov. if we made 100,000 dollars a year and did not need it we would have been the first to get a check I am not on disability nor my husband we had to work hard all our years. Is the gov. going to hell in a hand basket?

I never received my $300.00 stimulus rebate that the government promised as a stimulus to boost the economy. I had looked for it in the mail during July and August but it never came. In talking to a family member I learned that I could submit a request and subsequently receive the stimulus rebate. I sure need the money.

Thank You for your prompt attention!
