Rut row...

I'm hearing lots of complaints from formerly happy Zune users that say the new firmware update royally screwed their battery life.  Stuff like a fully charged Zune (40 or 80) at night being completely drained by morning. Perhaps a hibernation issue?

I'm not experiencing the problem at all (yet?) but if YOU are, I'd like to hear about it. So drop me a comment.

Microsoft would too, by the way, so drop them a comment over there and be heard.

The firmware update is one of the few things I did like about Zune 2.0. My battery life seems to be a lot better and the device is a year old! I use it every day (long train ride).

But the new desktop software is the pits, if you actually want to manage your media collection (they removed almost all that functionality). It assumes you buy all your music online, so little things like metadata editing are totally missing. Their solution, buy a tag editor.

I guess this is what happened to me. Over the holiday weekend we drove from St. Louis to Oklahoma City. The night before driving back I left my fully charged Zune in the car. But the next morning the battery was completely dead. Couldn't happen at a worse time as I was facing an all day drive.

Check this:

Maybe fixes the problem to the those few who have it.
