webpart: The specified display mode is currently disabled on this page. Make sure personalization is enabled for the current user.
I did my first webpart page following the article Building Web Parts, Part 2 by Wei-Meng Lee I got this 'The specified display mode is currently disabled on this page. Make sure personalization is enabled for the current user.' error when I try to switch to 'Design Mode' with my own SqlPersonalizationProvider. I think it's because the “personalization” has to be done under a registered user profile, so I logon as a registere user first before try this webpart part in design mode. Everything ......

ObjectDataSource: could not find a non-generic method '...'
I had this error in beta2 CTP June. I was trying to create an ObjectDataSource using XSD with predefined stored procedures. One of the reason I figured is what ever the parameters you used in Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures (if you use it at all), they have to be covered in your Get stored procedure's returing columns. I.e. Your Usp_DoSomething_Get have retured Column1, Column2, Column3 Select Column1, Column2, Column3 FROM myTable and your Usp_DoSomething_Insert have parameters Column1, Column2, ......

Message Status: Delivered, not consumed
I was asking one of my friend the third times for the same question: what will be the first guess when you see a service instance (orchestration or port) is in 'Active' status but the message status is 'Delivered, not consumed'? He replied the third time with the same answer: “You need to split your service instances to different hosts“. I only have 15 orchestration and about 25 ports bind to the host. I don't know what's the practical limit for BizTalk on how many service a host suppose ......

Rules of thumb in BizTalk Schema Design: (2) Does order of nodes matter?
Every parent node (called Record in BizTalk) in the schema has a attribute “Group Order Type”. Possible values include Sequence, Choice nad All. By default, it's Sequence. What does this matter? Well, it took me a day to figure this out! If you choose to make your messages Unqualified, this attribute doesn't matt. But if go down 'qualify' path like me, Sequence means you have to have your nodes in the messages as exactly orders as defined in your schema! Unless the node is optional (Min ......

Rules of thumb in BizTalk Schema Design: (1) To Qualified or to Unqualified, that is the question.
Schema design normally will cause your 50%+ time in the BizTalk project. Carefully designed schemas will serve as a contract between components/teams. Any changes in schemas will impact the integration project most significantly. In this mini-serial blogs “Rule of thumb in Schema Design”, I will talk about my own experiences. Trust me, I learned it hard way, hopefully you don't have to. When I start my BizTalk training, no one mentioned “Form” attribute of a Schema node. The ......

Get the width / height of a Calender control
Calender control is rendered as a table. You can't get the actual size of a table unless you explictly set it in the style attribute. Calender control has two properties Width and Height. The problem is it has too many other properties to find these to in Visutal Studio property panel if you are in “Source“ mode all the time like me. Once you switch to “Design” mode, these two are nicely groupted together under “Layout“ category. Better yet, I put all styles in ......

Set IFrame to transparent
I was creating an calender user control. I'm using IFrame instead of Popup because I hate Popup so does SP2. I'm using IFrame instead of DIV / Layer is because I don't want the Calender server control causes the whole page refresh. I'm using the Calender server control is because I like the auto UI culture and othe features. The idea is to have the Calender server control in a seperate page and hosted in the Iframe, after I pick a date, it sets the Text property of a TextBox on the container page. ......

HyperLink servercontrol doesn't show the Hand cursor when I hover my mouse on it, bug in Asp.net 2 beta June release?
The whole problem I had is posted at ASP.net forum http://forums.asp.net/97952... The work around for “HyperLink doesn't show the Hand cursor when I hover my mouse on it” is to create a CSS class .Hlink { cursor: hand; } and manully assign the HypyLink control's cssclass name ='Hlink” ......

Object of type 'System.Guid' cannot be converted to type 'System.Nullable`1[System.Guid]&'
I'm using ObjectDataSource to insert a row to SQL server. The PK column is uniqueidentifier type. There is another column CreatedBy is uniqueidentifier type too but rather a FK. Here is the Inserting event handller of my ODS that cause the error message: Object of type 'System.Guid' cannot be converted to type 'System.Nullable`1[System.G... protected void On_Inserting(object sender, ObjectDataSourceMethodEvent... e) { e.InputParameters["CreatedBy"] = new Guid(); //FK e.InputParameters["PersonUs... ......
