The season finale for BSG is this weekend. It'll be run an extra three minutes (1:03), so those of you without TiVo, make sure you don't miss the end. This is a series noted for their surprise endings and cliffhangers, and there will no doubt be one again. I anticipate something with Kara Thrace/Starbuck.
From what I hear, next season will most likely be the final one for this series. That's not very surprising. They had hoped that this season would be their "breakout" year, and that they'd pick up a more mainstream following. I don't believe that happened. Of course, the content for this season could be to blame for that. There's no doubt that this season has been far less entertaining than the previous two seasons and mini-series. Part of the reason is how many "interpersonal relationship" episodes they've had, but that's not completely it. There have always been those types of episodes, and yet the series has still ben far more enjoyable than this year. What they've lost is the tension, though. Since the fleet left New Caprica, you've never had any impression that the fleet as a whole, or even specific characters, were in much imminent danger.
Part I of the season finale was on last week, and is obviously an attempt to change all that. The Cylons are still out there, chasing the "good guys", and they've brought an impressive amount of firepower with them this time.
Anyway, tune in Sunday for what will probably be one of the few enjoyable episodes of this season and be thankful that season 3 is finally over.
