Mike Torres gave his list of 5 problems with MSN Spaces. I think all of those things could use fixing… but I have a list of my own.
1) An API. I want to be able to post entries from Outlook/Newsgator and without having to use the browser (although I do think MSN’s browser editing control is the best I’ve used).
2) Ink support. Maybe this is a bad idea for those of us with awful handwriting J But I would really like to see a posting option for Tablet PC users that uses a simple Ink-enabled ActiveX control to allow users to write and draw whatever they want, and then have it posted in their blog as an entry. I suppose you’d have it saved as a (very small) image, and included in the body of a normal blog entry. The idea here though is that it’s all automated.
3) Something like LiveJournal’s “friends” page… perhaps one that aggregates all recent posts from anyone in your MSN Messenger contact list.
4) I like the suggestion in the MSN Spaces Feedback wiki about Xbox Live integration. That would be fantastic.
5) More than five things:
a. Option to display comments in the correct order (oldest first), should affect ALL the spaces I visit.
b. A way to import my music collection from WMP 10, viewable in an artist/album tree.
c. A way to have a list that is updated with the list of TV shows my Media Center PC is setup to record.
d. Longer comments and comment threading
e. Space-owner option to allow commentors to edit/delete their comments.
f. Alert and/or aggregation of responses to comments I’ve posted on other Spaces. Even better, make this an RSS feed so I can add it to my favorite aggregator.
g. Better URLs. Get rid of the “members” directory level. My address should be spaces.msn.com/bhpaddock – Or do what LiveJournal does and give us username.spaces.msn.com.
h. Integration with Hotmail and/or MSN accounts. I want my 2GB of storage to be available for Spaces use as well as e-mail.
A dream come true would be to combine items 1&2 and give me a OneNote plugin - so that I can post a rich entry right from OneNote. Oh man... the possibilities there are huge.
