WPF Toolkit and Silverlight compatibility
Tim Heuer talks about the WPF Toolkit release and does some WPF/Silverlight code compatibility things and while it's not all that bad, it's good to have Tim out there ahead of us!

Dave Britton gave a Silverlight presentation at Silicon Valley Code Camp 2008 and has all his materials on his blog.
Fire collection updated events from a special Silverlight ItemsControl
Jordan Knight has a couple things going in here... he's talking about using the Model View-View Model pattern by John Grossman John Gossman -- check out the link on Jordan's blog.. then goes on to describe how he got around an issue with events.
Menus, part IV : collapsible menu
Gerard Leblanc keeps whittling away at the different types of menus ... this is very cool. I've used the flash equivalent of this, and figured someone would do it... very nice job, Gerard!
Silverlight Menu Control: Customizing Appearance
I had not blogged the Devexpress AgMenu control because it wasn't really available, or I didn't think so. Today Azret Botash has a very nice breakdown of how to customize it, so I figured it was time to mention it!
Tip:Changing background of AutoCompleteBox
Lee gives us a good tip on changing the background of the AutoCompleteBox .. a hint... it involves the Template.

Thank You to all Veterans



It's very easy for me to think too hard on this, but I want to give a personal thanks from me and my family to everyone that's spent time in the service of our country.

My grandfather was in a tank in the US Army in WWI and my father was a Marine on Iwo Jima in WWII. I served in the US Army from June 30, 1970 to June 23, 1973. I'm proud to have done so and am proud of all of you that have done so as well.

If you work with someone that served, please tell him or her thanks... trust me, they'll appreciate the thought!

Jaime Rodriguez reports that the NY Times has a free version of it's WPF reader: NY Times ReaDER Free Edition.. ... now I just need to be someplace I can run WPF :)

Ian Griffiths sent me a link to this post about a Silverlight solution to the missing "WriteableBitmap" class that WPF has. He has a CodePlex project that produces bitmaps at run-time... check his post for the why then the how... very cool stuff!

I found this link via Mike Ormond, and then spent a bunch of time cruising around the places folks had marked ... this is very cool. I linked the Press Release, and Mike's page has lots of good info and background as well as a link to the app.
Silverlight.FX Effects in Depth
Nikhil Kothari has a great tutorial on his Silverlight.FX such as Attaching Effects Declaratively, Customizing Effects, Building Controls that use Effects Programmatically, and Creating a Custom Effect. I finally woke up and added a tag for Silverlight.FX ... go download it and play with it...
Silverlite: What to do if your XAML changes do not display
Dave Burke is starting a series of Silverlight posts he's calling "SilverLite"... I've added a tag for that if you want to single them out. In this first one he explains a simple solution to an on-going problem we all have with changing our XAML. In the second one, Silverlite: Why your AutoCompleteBox may not be working, he explains the difference in binding between a ComboBox and AutoCompleteBox. His third one, Silverlite: Why datagrid column sorting might not be working he shares the trick to getting column sorting working... great series so far Dave!
Silverlight: dynamically finding a storyboard in the VisualStateManager
Anna Wrochna apparently got bored with school and decided to play with Silverlight, and attacked the same subject that Page Brooks did earlier this month, only independently... then with a bit of help got the code tighter... very cool, Anna, now back to school!

Chris Hay and John McLoughlin interviewed a bunch of big-name folks at PDC... not sure how they got those guys trapped long enough, but they have the interviews on the web for our enjoyment...

ToolBox Panels
Robby Ingebretsen came out of hiding long enough to blog a few things... I'm pretty certain he's the one that did the Wrap Panel that Karen Corby used at #MIX08 and wowed everyone... well, he's got a new one... so prepare to be wowed... and I saw his name on the presenter's list for #MIX09 under his PixelLab name.
