Silverlight Cream for September 10 -- #365

Bart Czernicki on MultiThreading, Cigdem with HangRobot, Corey Schuman with a video slider, Terence Tsang with Random Expand Rotator, Mike Snow Dynamically Loading SL Apps, Manish Dalal with a SL Business App, and Tim Heuer on SL Effects Libraries.

Lots of side comments today, so be sure to read this stuff as well!

Jeff Paries posted that he has almost 190 'projects' in his new Silverlight book... wow! ... I referenced before having seen some of this, and Jeff has now posted a few words about the book and a link to one of the examples... if this doesn't make you want to pre-order, get your pulse checked :)

I blogged about Jordan Knight's article on Controlling Silverlight using the Browser Forward and Back buttons. He now has a screencast up for it!

I blogged about Cameron Albert's game 'Joust', and today I see he has the source available for the game -- now that's pretty cool :)

Dan Wahlin blogged about Upcoming Silverlight 2 and ASP.NET AJAX Workshops , so if you're anywhere near San Fransisco or Las Vegas, check out the dates and times!

More than one person has blogged this, so I'm putting it up here also, first Tim Heuer blogged H.264 and AAC support coming to Silverlight, and this was also blogged by Michael S. Scherotter as Silverlight to Support H.264 and AAC.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlight MultiThreading with a Computational Process (Counting Primes)
Bart Czernicki took off on multiple threads... links out to other work that he improved on by using threading, good examples and descriptions.. if you're doing SERIOUS SL work, print this out!
Hang Robot
Cigdem emailed me because for some reason I didn't see this on her site, but she built a very cool Hangman game she calls HangRobot. You can choose types of words, and it keeps track of the letters you've used... well done! I won the first one (easy level), then the second time I just typed the alphabet and came within two letters of saving the robot that way :)
From Flash to Silverlight
I blogged about Project Rosetta already, and hadn't looked at Rick Barraza's work out there because of the whole 'flash' to SL thing... I've never worked in flash, but I took a look today and wow... Rick has a lot of great Silverlight going on out there... but hey, what else would you expect from him :)
Video slider control
Corey Schuman explains what he doesn't like about the out-of-the-box slider, then goes on to not only make his own, but posts it to CodePlex!
Flash vs Silverlight: Random Expand Rotator
Ok, I was planning on posting one link every day from Terence Tsang, but I think I'm going to have to kick it up, because he is more prolific than that! ... Here is another cool blog post by Terence.
Silverlight Tip of the Day #37 – How to Dynamically Load and Display Silverlight Applications
Mike Snow isn't letting up the pressure either, he is up to number 37 now and this time shows how to dynamically load a SL application... this comes close to something we were discussing yesterday... might be time for a challenge :)
Silverlight Business Application Part 5: Validation - Refactored!
How have I missed Manish Dalal's blog? I've got it now, and he's in the SC database too.. he's up to part 5 of a SL Business application, and thankfully, he has links out to the first 4 parts :)
Some Silverlight effects libraries
Tim Heuer gives a run-down on SL Effects Libraries that he knows of and is asking for comments about any he may have missed, so keep revisiting Tim's post for further info!

Stay in the 'Light!

Does anyone know where to get the source code used by Matthew MacDonald for his book Silverlight 2 Visual Essentials? If not, is there a way to contact Matthew?
