Silverlight Cream for May 2, 2008 -- #264

Joel Neubeck with an IPhone-style flip animation, Peter Himschoot on DataBinding, Tim Heuer Skinning an embeddable SL2 media player, Mike Taulty on WCF and MaxMessageReceivedSize, Lee with a SL2 Rating control, Pete Brown on Part 1 of his Chat Demo, and Tamir Khason on a multi-platform stand-alone SL2 app.

From SilverlightCream.com:
Silverlight 3D flip animation
Joel Neubeck is a perfect example of me not finding someone. Until Tim Heuer posted his Skinning example, below, and credited Joel, I hadn't seen his blog. Joel has some great stuff I'll catch up with. I don't know for 100% certainty, but I believe he's one of the Terralever folks that do the very cool SL games, which probably means I sat next to him at Desert Code Camp last fall after my presentation and watched Dan Wahlin do his ... you know how it goes with old folks and memory for names :) .. oh yeah... this has to be one of THE COOLEST controls I've seen yet in Silverlight... and I've seen a bunch. I've already thought of about 5 ways I want to use this code... go look at it, I'll still be here when you get back... <pause />... cool, huh?
Silverlight how-to: Video Player
Joel's Video Player that he did by just using controls modified by styles and templates... very creative use of SL2 capabilities.
Skinning an embeddable Silverlight 2 media player
This is the post by Tim that exposed me to Joel. Tim expanded on the Media Player by Joel, above, and explains/carries it along with more explanation, plus makes it pretty :)
Silverlight 2.0 DataBinding Explained (a bit) :)
Peter Himschoot takes a very nice swing at explaining SL2 databinding... bunch of code, and examples to execute.
Silverlight 2 - WCF and MaxMessageReceivedSize
Mike Taulty asks and answers a question about the use of the Config File in SL2 but demonstrates using MaxMessageReceivedSize.
Ratings control
Lee has a very nice Ratings control up this time... I ran his sample and it works very nice... I've been talking about putting rating on SC... this might push me to it :)
Silverlight 2 Beta 1 Chat Demo Application Part 1 of 2 - Design and Animation
Due to requests, Pete Brown has decided to do some forensics on his Chat app that he built, and explain it in detail. This first part is the Design and Animation part.
Stand alone multiplatform Silverlight application
I posted about Tamir having an 'Air'-like SL2 app the other day, and now he's taking that into multiple platforms... definitely something to pay attention to!

Stay in the 'Light!
