Generating code for large-scale architectures is a complex topic. This talk will discuss ways to integrate the ADO.NET Entity Framework into your architecture’s code generation process and have it perform the “heavy lifting” in your Data Access Layer. We will cover an introduction to the framework itself and discuss some of the potential pitfalls (and how to avoid them) when using it in large-scale architectures where testing is important. We will also look at ways to customize the usage of the framework in scenarios where code generation is the focal point of development. Over the course of this discussion we will cover general code generation principles as well as discuss several approaches that make use of the .NET CodeDOM and its related technologies. These techniques can prove to be “manpower multipliers” in applications of all sizes.
