I have changed the following as I was really upset after I was terminated

First I would like to say, that I have worked the same position for over 18 years for something like 5 different companies (at the same Job, the companies kept changing around me) and had no problems with co-workers before or co-workers with me.  Now on 10/28/08 just before I was to get ready for my night job.  I was called by my boss and terminated, that it right out of the blue, with out any warnning. I was very upset at being let go this way, after 18+ years of service.  I would like to say at this point after some thing like 9 months of no work (I have been trying find a job really) that it could not get worse but, I don't want to tempt fate.

I feel compassion for you situation. If the job market was'nt so bad you could just move on and forget about it. Have you tried gettting a stop-gap job in the evening which will give you business hours to pursue and I.T. job?

I am familiar with someone in a similar situation. The backstabbing is more fierce and frequent now that people are feeling threatened so they are looking for people to kick out of the life boat.

I pray that things get better for you. To everyone else out there don't think it can't happen to you. Try to help those who are laid off with references or other resources.

Watch out and make informed choice when it who you vote for in the upcoming elections. We need people that actually care about the future of America.

Gosh, sorry to hear that. But Im surprised that you didnt take seek further legal action when this occurred. It seems greatly injust for you to lose your employment over someone elses accusations, especially without you have the right to defend yourself.
And bizarrely that HR would stand there and let that happen when they are there to protect you.
Maybe its not too late for you to get some legal advise?

Keep positive about work though. Over here in the UK, things arent great, but they certainly feel like they've improved since the beginning of the year.
