Monday 20th: Well went to the interview. I found it was group meeting to try and get me and about 7 others to sell insurance. Well I sat thru the meet and filed out the form for them to contact me but, I don’t think I will be called back. I not to hot on the idea of selling insurance. Why because I found early on in my work life that I could not sell anything.   Well I came home did my email and Job search thingy and then when to hardware store with the kids, to get the spark plug and some starter fluid.   Then we went and ordered a pizza. While we were waiting we went down to library and checked out some books. While there found out that my little girl had some very very very over due books. Well we went back home after picking up the pizza and did some more looking for work, work on the PC. Tuesday 21st: Instead of starting the day working on the PC to find work.   Worked on the lawn mower and I don’t believe it, after about one hour. I got it running. I was so happy that I took my old weed eater (which has been thou a flood) cleaned it up and oiled it up. Got its spark plug out. Cleaned it up and glued the broken part together. Tomorrow we will see if it works.  Staked out the tomato plants, then I and my little girl mowed the lawn.  The grand Nephew did some weed whacking with other weed eater.  Ran out gas ¾ of way done and it was getting hot out. We all got into the pool.   After that rested a bit and then we went and got gas and some other stuff for the pool. We finish the lawn and my wife and the kids work on the walk way we are making out of used bricks. When done we all hit the pool again and after dinner I did my job hunt again. Well that’s it for now.

Well now for Saturday 18th: Well I stayed up too late again at the computer but, got up at about 07:00.  I should have stayed in bed.   Nothing seems to want to work for me. It rained early in the day so I could not mow the lawn. Could not get any thing done on the PC.   We drove out to a town near by (about 22 miles) to return a wheel chair that we had borrowed for my wife’s dad.  I fell, a sleep after that, kids woke me up after about 3 hours and the lawn was dry for mowing.   Started up the lawn tractor and mowed the hard part of the lawn and turned it over to my little ten year old girl (She is learning how to do it). At that point it stopped running and the motor would not even turn over. The kids went to use the weed whacker but that would not work also. On top of that the as we were starting put both a way it started raining again.   After that help my wife to clean the pool area. Went to work on my group Gray Matters, on linked end but, could not get any new ideas for it. I need to grow the member ship so we can have an impact or voice that can be heard. I was going to update my blog but, by that time it was very late and I was tired. Sunday 19th: Got up early and started it off right by praying and reading my BIBLE, before every one else got up. Well the weed eater is now working (it had got wet so by putting in a dry area fixed that problem.   Now the lawn mower, motor will turn over (water in the battery was low) but, it will not start. Spent allot of the after noon on it. Got the spark plug out and it maybe that will get a new one Monday.  Me and the kids went out back and cut up a dead tree for fire wood (if we are still here and bank doesn’t throw us out). Well that’s it for tonight, I think….

Gomennasi gozaimasu Japanese for really sorry.  Well I have not updated this for 4 days.   Well lets get to blogging.   Thursday 16th: Same thing as usual, check email, search for job.  But, later in the day find an email asking me for an interview.  Replied to that one so fast it is wonder that I did not hurt my hands.  So now I have an interview on Monday.  This is big, isn’t it?  All of sudden I getting replies and calls.  Keeping fingers crossed!!!!!!!   Friday 17th:  Over slept, I wanted to get up a 7:00 and going to get the tires by 8:00.  Did wake up till almost 9:00.   Did not matter any way they didn’t have the tires and would have to order them.  I almost pass out when found out how much for two tires.  Tire costs have gone way up.   Any way tires would not be there till 12 noon.  So went back home.  Look at emails, applied for some jobs and a 12 went back.   Got home before wife had to use truck to go to doctor and I stayed home to watch the kids.   At 4:30 we all went out to get some free peanut butter and jelly.  My little girl found coupon for dinner before we left and because it was in the same town as we had to go to.  We went out for cheap (??) dinner.   Well I will update for Saturday and Sunday later today.

Ok let’s bring this up to date.  Monday 13th:  Go thru my emails from the Job search agents I have set up on several  head hunter sites/company sites.  Check my group (Gray Matters!”) On LinkedIn.  Member ship still low (we need more members if we are to be heard).  Got call from a head hunter about a job (this new their calling me).  She ask me if I wanted to try for a IT job (did she think I was going say no.  At his point I would work in Afghanistan).  At  01:30 when with the kids to pick up free food (mostly bread and some veggies).  3:00 we get back wet from sweat (the sun is not to be taken lightly where I live).  Back to the internet looking for work.   Tuesday 14th:  Another head hunter calls while I was going thru my job search emails.   Asked me to rework my resume to add in mortgage experience ( I only have 3 months experience on that when I worked for mortgage broker).  I told him I do not lie but, told him I would put down I had some experience with mortgage and Stock information systems (two years in computer operations at large stock agency).  Sent him the reworked résumé and went to back to the emails.  Later he calls again for another job and he sends me my resume back to me for my ok.  Because the company doing the hiring wants it in the format he sent back to me.  It looks ok and he didn’t add any thing to it.  So I tell him go for it.  Wednesday 15th:  Pay what bills I can with what I have and save out some money to buy 2 new tires for truck.  I am riding on my spare (one of those half tires) and the other tire will go soon.  Have not heard back from the head hunters or the bank that holds the mortgage on the house.   Go thru my emails again and at around 5:00 go with family to free dinner that is held every Wednesday night.  Come home after ward, spent some time with family and kids before going to my PC and check emails for jobs.  O and to finally update my blog.

Well I am a lone for now.  No, no, I didn’t lose my family, my wife and her parents left to pick up Grand niece /daughter, from her gramy (my wife sister) and one of our grand Nephew’s (No we aren’t keeping him, it is just for few weeks). So I was told I would have to stay home because there would not be room for me in the car. Oh well, that just means I get to do my 3 favorite things, sleep, stay up on the PC and clean the house. Yes, I clean the house (some times in to wee hours), stay up way to late on the PC and sleep till way after noon.   The 10, Friday, spent a lot of time looking for jobs on the internet. Washed our throw rugs, weed eated the yard, some small house hold things and updated my blog. Saturday 11th, got up at about 12:30 and mopped Kitchen floor, vacuumed the house (tried to remove some dog spots, thank you Puppy), more internet job search (by the way part of my Job search is to maintain my profile and my group “Gray Matters!” on the Network site LinkedIn), cleaned the whole kitchen and mowed the lawn. Oh and clean the bird cage.  Boy was I tired after all of that! Took a very hot bath (Japanese style). Sunday 12, did some small clean up jobs in the house and checked my email and went to church. At about 13:00 my family was back. Which prings us to NOW. If you want to view my profile go to http://www.linkedin.com/home or Gray Matters! Well I thouth the interveiw went well.  I answered all their questions (the right way I hoped) but, I did not get the JOB.  Rats, O well I just have to pray harder, work harder (at getting Job) and pray (I already said that didnt I).   Well to bring my storie current, I have to add that I started a group on the networking site, LinkedIn.   The group name you ask, is "Gray Matters!"  it is group for over 40 out work.  Here is the group profile.

We are the "Gray Matters!" support group. We will be heard. We will support one another. We will spread the word to all, that just because we are older. It does not mean that we should be pass over for JOBs.

As a group we are emailing the White house (every Monday) and supporting each other in finding work.  Come on down and join us.

Three days before I was fired. I had got a cash advance from my Visa card for legal fees, not for me but; for the return of my grand niece’s to her mom (niece on my wife’s side).   The little girl had stayed with me and my wife for over two years. While her mom put her life back together.   She had been taken from us by father of the girl, about 4 years ago (he had very good/bad lawyer). The Dad was to have shared custody with the Mom but after few weeks disappeared into the next state.   So fast forwarding to 9 months ago, the Mom finds out where she is but, needed money for the Lawyer. We come up with money, I lose my job two days later but, we (the Mom and us) get the girl back and the father is in deep trouble (it seems he had abused the girl). But, would I do it again knowing I was going to lose my job? YES!   She is family, which is why I talked my wife into adopting her nephew’s little girl, some thing like 3 years ago. When the state of Mich. was going to cut parental rights off from the parents. If that had gone thru the girl (now our daughter / grand niece) would have been cut off from the whole family until she was 18.   So here I am in debt to my eye balls due to saving two little girls and due to relocating to keep a job that cut me lose two years after.   Trying to fine a job and having little in way of luck but, I have my faith in God still.

Now for today.   I have got interview for job in a town two hours away. This will be the 4th job face to face, interview I have got in the last 9 months (6 if you count the two phone interviews). Wish me luck and pray for me please!

I have changed the following as I was really upset after I was terminated

First I would like to say, that I have worked the same position for over 18 years for something like 5 different companies (at the same Job, the companies kept changing around me) and had no problems with co-workers before or co-workers with me.  Now on 10/28/08 just before I was to get ready for my night job.  I was called by my boss and terminated, that it right out of the blue, with out any warnning. I was very upset at being let go this way, after 18+ years of service.  I would like to say at this point after some thing like 9 months of no work (I have been trying find a job really) that it could not get worse but, I don't want to tempt fate.
