Putting pictures in Windows Live Writer in their original size
I guess I’m one of those people who rarely reads manual, and outside of technical documentation, I rarely read an application’s user manual. So I’m using Windows Live Writer, and I’m trying to embed a picture in my draft blog post. Well, whenever I do that, the picture always come in scaled down (if it’s even a tad large, like 300 pixels wide), like the picture below: Well, obviously with technical and text-heavy images, scaling down is bad (can’t read much). I can go to the HTML source, but I can’t ......

My Coding Helpers: Verify exception thrown in Unit Test
Every now and then, I end up writing and re-writing the same code (or very, very similar) to achieve a functionality that I’ve had before. Sometimes I can remember where I wrote it, so I can just copy and paste. At other times, I have to redo it again since I forgot where it was. So I’d like to put it up on my blog so I have access to it. If anyone else gets to see it and can use it, so much the better for everyone. Of course, I’d also accept criticism to the code too . So, this is my first one; ......

St. Louis Day of .NET
Yesterday was the St. Louis Day of .NET event (hencefore I'll refer to STLDODN); it was a great success!. I was fortunate enough to be involved in this grand event; Clint Edmonson asked if I would be available to present some Microsoft PDC material, and I took that opportunity - even got to choose which topic to present. I chose to do a presentation on Parallel Programming for Managed Code Developers. Thanks for the chance, Clint. To make sure I'm well prepared, I also volunteered to present it at ......

Expensive Home theatre...
One of my hobby / passion is home theaters, and even though $6 million is overkill, I thought I would brought it up as a good read . Kipnis Studio Standard, 4096x2160 video, 18 ft screen, 8 speakers with 8 subs... The Sony Quad HD projector is one of interest to me - it costs $100K (if this post is to be believed) with NO lens (another $19K option give or take a couple of grand given what kind of lens you want), but I would like to see how an 8 megapixel image would look like on a big screen. Of ......

Changed blog's display skin
After looking at some other blogs that reside here, they all look... better for lack a more suitable word. Went into my configuration and there I saw Display Skin selection, so I gave that a try. Most of the skins/styles are narrow-ish, which doesn't work very well with blogs that may contain code (like I'm planning mine would). I got it down to a few selection that would work, and I'll just put it here so I can remember what they are (and not try them again one-by-one if I wanted to change it in ......

Trying to blog...
Blogging is new territory for me, so I'm trying to look & see what stuff can I do with this blog site. I found that you can create new categories, and then each post (I was correct that you blog by creating post - see my first post ) can be associated with 0 or more of these categories. Found a way to edit my first post, so I can associate it with my categories. Also found a way to hyperlink to my first post - again we'll see if this works later. Doesn't seem to be any way to preview or test ......

Prologue
This is my first post. It should be my first post... hopefully - we'll see... This is my first venture into the world of blogging; I hope this would be a good move - I believe it will have some nice benefits for me, and I hope it can help others too. I plan to use this blog to catalog & detail (somewhat) any new things I learned during my day-to-day experience. Sometime early last year, I realized that I learn quite a bit of new stuff just by doing my regular work. I would just try to remember ......
