Geeks With Blogs
Maryanne's Blog Another Geek with A Blog

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day.  I am a braidsmaid in a friend's wedding this fall and we girls got together last night to put together the wedding invitations etc.

Oddly, my arms are sore from using her embosser on the invites but its cool to see things moving forward on the wedding.

Now what may you ask does this have to do with being a geek?  Well...some people may consider it geeky that they've decided to hold a 1700's period Scottish wedding instead of your typical seen in on "As the World Turns" a hundred times standard American wedding.

For example:  My  Dress is going to look like this:

Cool huh?

Best part, that dress can become my garb for Ren Faire <yay>

So while a wedding on the surface doesn't appear geeky, us geeks are gonna make it that way.

Well, I can see how one who is described as a Geek, ie. a definite technobuff, would be viewed with skepticism when one is going back in time to the very, very dawn of any kind of Western technology. However, that said, it is perhaps a nostalgia gig, don't ya think? Like the dress.

The dresses are coming from a seamstress the bride found on eBay. Her prices are VERY reasonable. My dress order from her will actually be a five piece deal including the satin chemese & crinalin for 150. Not too shabby. If you like that dress, check out what else she has for sale at her eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Royal-Coffers_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm

Good luck getting people behind it. Although some very exciting, you’re going to have to do more than raise a couple of things may be different from what we’ve heard already. What are you trying to say here? What do you think? It seems you can not really get behind a single thought. Anyway, that’s just my opinion
