CSS Cookbook

CSS Cookbook is a satisfactory value for its price. While it does contain a section on cross-browser compatibility "Chapter 11 - Hacks, Workarounds And Troubleshooting", I found that you will not enjoy the type of thoroughness as Peter-Paul Koch's QuirksMode site and his sections on CSS. Nothing like a good cheat sheet for quick referencing. However, as this book was titled "Cookbook", perhaps such a section was appropriately and intentionally omitted. After all, good food does take some time to cook. And it is no different for this CSS Cookbook. There are several great end-to-end explainations such as the page layouts in Chapter 9. The disclaimer is that this is less of a reference book and more of an educational/training material. So if you are looking for a pure reference book, you may want to get "CSS Pocket Reference" instead. Lastly, a minor complaint regarding the style in which this book was presented. While the O'Reilly tech books are traditionally in black & white, seeing as this leans towards the design aspect of web development, it would have been livelier to present figures in color. In any case, it may simply be a personal bias of mine and drawing my motivation out of appealing examples.
