About

It came to my attention recently that I now no longer have live reference if I ever bring up mention of the classic google bomb search result after you type "Failure" into the textbox. From my recollection, at the time of my first GWB blog entry, Google search was still returning Bush's biography as the most relevant item. Now, it is no more... Only traces of this amusing story appear on sites/blogs and on wikipedia.

Apparently, the guys at Google decided to make this a work item and came up with an algorithm to minimize the impact of Googlebombs. You can read about it on Matt's blog entry. He claims that the impact of this new rollout is limited, yet reassures the public that no manual intervention has been made. It may be interesting to see how wide stretching this implementation is and to test out other known Googlebombs. What was once an amusing social collaboration on the internet is now no more.
