Jquery Menu: Starting out

I started out using the suckerfish menu for a customer app. All went fine for awhile but suddenly the menu started acting weird with problems indenting and such. I finally figured it must be interacting with other css stuff. So, I thought how the heck do I fix this? What if I could just use jquery and keep all of the action in jquery and put the style in in the menu class and just spit it out. Most of the properties would get put into attributes ......

Development gotcha #2
Same project and developer #1. In the SL client we had to check the status of items to load. Each different item (one for each quarter) had to load separately each with its own user control. So, I was going thru the code one day and found where we were checking the status of an item to see if it was current. So the status would be pending. The code looked like so: If (CurrentDate == “12/1/2010” ) I kid you not. Instead of looking at the enum status like If (CurrentStatus == Pending) the developer ......

Things rolled along well but… One of the devs the client forced on us was a guy who claimed to be a senior developer but was really a very junior one. Now the client had him doing all kinds of work and thought he was awesome. So one day I was debugging problems and found this. At startup of the app, we needed a bunch of lists for list boxes and validation and such. What this dev had done was make calls to WCF like so: Get list 1 Get list 2 Get list ......

MVC–won’t start debugging with IIS as server
Heres a good one. Today I was working away and fixed a simple bug. Then hit F5 again and VS says” Can’t start app in debug mode. er. Restart VS and try again. Same deal. So, hit Control + F5. Get a 503 error this time. With a quick search I found this: http://www.dotnetfunda.com/... So, I opened IIS Admin and sure enough, then Default AppPool was stopped. Restarted it and now it works. Weird ......
