Conference talks... small rooms... front row issues...

I have just noticed that generally people hate sitting in the front 3 rows in small room conferences, I'm just wondering why... ;)  Are they scared that they will have to answer a question?  Or are they concerned that they may want to leave half way through?  Or is there some other random reason... comments on how to resolve this issue are welcome...

The odd thing is the bigger conference rooms seem to be full even in the front rows, and on the conferences with the really well known speakers they seem to fill from the front...

That's funny. I always go for the front row. I get a better view, am more likely to have my question answered, and pay more attention (according to freakonomics!)

For me, its some weird feeling that I don't want to expose my back to people...its a safety thing...weird, I know.

I don't like to be in front, except if know that other people will do... That is the case with some speaker (for exemple my favorite Kimberky Tripp)

You don't want the presenter to see that you're really checking email in the back of his session ;)

Not that I would do such a thing, of course...

LOVE the front (even in Church!)... Increases my ability to totally focus and learn tons!

Where do you like to sit Sarah?

As long as there's a seat, I don't mind where. However, it is odd how people avoid the front rows. They even do it in the cinema, but that's a neck cramp issue, I figure.

If I have to make an effort to concentrate by sitting in the front, that conference is not worth going.

Also it is weird to turn your head back and front when people are asking questions.

Back seats are usually a bit higher which gives a better view of everybody

It is quite annoying when you have to turn your head back and forth when you get people participating from the back of the room.
If the room allows, you could always surprise everyone by giving the presentation from the back of the room.
