Well I was one of the bloggers at the Hallam Foe film preview. Now I'm not one to advocate films without having seen them first hand in one way or another. And in the case of this film I got to see it from script to first screening, and it has been a journey. I have to say that I really enjoyed reading the script and I read the whole lot in an evening. I loved it. However somehow David MacKenzie managed to get what I had seen in that script on the screen, almost as I pictured it. Granted some of it was down to individual interpretation. It's a good solid well written script and even knowing the story didn't detract from the film itself. In fact it allowed me to look at more than just the storyline and plot and be able to pick up on some of the symbolism and the intricate attention to detail that has been done so well throughout the film.
The actors were superb and although it is a rather bizarre twisted film I did enjoy it. The bloggers dinner afterward was quite fun and full of insightful conversations and it was great to be able to catch up with a few friends that I hadn't seen for a while (and make a few new ones too). Unfortunately I wasn't quite on full form as I had a nasty throat infection that was causing me a few issues with eating and such (all under control now thanks to antibiotics and a good doctor).
It was interesting to see David and the team who have been working on Hallam Foe, they were all so nervous before showing the film... I have no idea how much alcohol and nervous cigarettes were consumed before hand, but they should learn not to worry so much. At the end of the day they put their hearts and minds into this film and it was lovely. They didn't need to worry themselves so much. In fact it made me realise that these people doing the acting and making the films are very real people and that they have feelings too. It makes me wonder how people do react to things that are in the media.
Unlike everyone else who has blogged about the film I am going to give this film 5 descriptive tags:
Twisted Beautiful Dark Sensual Intriguing
Once you have seen it feel free to add your own.
