BT... and their Web 2.0 Questionnaire (One cannot define web 2.0 by O'Reilly alone!)

I was approached by a recruitment agent who was trying to recruit for BT... she was doing a good job but unfortunately for her BT let her down with their interview process and their pre interview web 2.0 questionnaire.  The questions were poor to say the least and showed a real lack of understanding of Web 2.0.  It does make me worry about their future performance as a company as they don't seem to be able to keep up with current web technologies.

Here are the questions for you to look over, feel free to comment.  I placed my comments with the recruiters.  I just hope that BTdo eventually get taught what web 2.0 is all about, then maybe they will get where the world is going ;)

The purpose of this questionnaire is to understand your level of knowledge regarding Web 2.0. This will be used as part of the recruitment process you are undertaking. Please indicate one answer only in response to each question. Once complete, please send this response to your recruiter within BT.

Please use the attached link to help you in answering these questions.

I would  recommend that BT review this questionnaire and get some input from someone like Sam Sethi to get it right next time!  One cannot define web 2.0 by O'Reilly alone!

Of course they could simply fix the questions by supplying the "A buzz word" answer for everything.

Cynical? Me?

The whole thing is painful, trying to watch a dinosaur attempt to reinvent itself yet again.

Can't agree with you more. The questionaire concept sems to be a millenium old, it is so so so so not Web, let alone being Web2.0 !!!!

Really feel sad that a company which wants to reinvent itself so badly, has people who fancy such questionaires at the entrance gate scaring away real Web 2.0 talent !!!

This is a joke right? Only BT would try and formalise something as nebulous as Web2.0 for a recruitment process.

Losers.

I could if I had the time or inclination to want to drag an old dragon of a company into the 21st century, but that couldn't be done by a developer... that would need to be worked on from the top down.

As the role was a software engineer role with no management responsibility at all it would be one hell of a difficult challenge to turn a company upside down. If you think you would want to fight the big monster each and every day then feel free. I've already spent enough time and effort doing that once over, it's not something I plan on doing again. (you never get any thanks for it anyway)
