London to Brighton 2006!
Please Sponsor Me for the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride on the 18th June 2006! Once again I am doing the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride. It's 54 miles of cycling across country with 2 big hills and one really big one! I'm just starting to train for it now, as I really want to get up all the hills first time. No stopping and no walking. Unlike last year where I didn't have a choice coz people kept stopping in front of me. I would really appreciate any ......

London Girl Geek Dinner 5 (it's a big one!)
Well with Women in Technology sponsoring our 5th London Girl Geek Dinner and Helen Duguid speaking, the event seems to have mushroomed out and hit London by storm! So far we have 110 people signed up to the event and almost all of them are females. It's amazing that so many women are in IT and are meeting up and chatting about life, technology and all things geeky! It does make me wonder how big Girly Geek Dinners will get. Just recently I have been in touch with someone in Nottingham who asked if ......

For the Students: Academic Search Facilities
Well I just received some info that the Beta version of Academic search for Windows Live is now available, and I thought it would be useful to any students, lecturers or academics to know about. Google have their verison and now Microsoft have theirs too! It's another useful source of information but it's only in beta version. It's worth anyone interested in it having a look and giving feedback on it as feedback shapes the way these softwares work. The Windows Live Academic Search beta is designed ......

Technokitten hosted The Carnival of the Mobilist on Friday!
Helen Keegan (Technokitten) hosted this week's Carnival of the Mobilists which is a round-up of this week's writing on mobile from the blogosphere. There have been a couple of entries included about Mobile Web 2.0. I was fortunate enough to be one of the chosen articles! There is also a whole lot of other information on there so if you'd like to take a look, then you'll find the post and the links to the various articles here. If you're interested in contributing to the Carnival in the coming weeks, ......

My Gran shares her 80th Birthday with the Queen

I have to put this announcement out because I am so very proud of my Gran, (Mrs Iris Kitty Blow) she is 80 on the 21st April 2006!  She's a wonderful, strong woman.  I do hope that she gets an invitation to the Queen's Birthday reception!  I think it would probably make her day!

Avoiding the Easter Bunny!
Well every year Easter comes around and every year I suffer at the hands of this rather odd tradition of chocolate Easter Egg giving. This year I have told my parents I will ONLY go up and see them IF they promise NOT to give me an Easter Egg... And fortunately for me they have promised that they won't give me any this year! Last year I had 5 eggs... it took me 3 months to eat them. I know... you all probably think I am mad, however I am one of those few people that don't particularly like chocolate ......

MoMoLondon Round-Up
Mobile Monday was great fun and it was rather interesting seeing things from the other side. Being on the panel talking about Mobile Web 2.0 there was an obvious difference between points of views on even what mobile web 2.0 is. I guess we are all entitled to our own points of view and that to each and every one of us it is uniquely different. I tried to get as many developer points across to Vodafone on data cost, api's and location services being made available. Unfortunately it was a little difficult ......

Mobile Web 2.0 (Discuss!) (part 2)
Well Mobile Monday has been and gone... I did sit on the panel and we did discuss Mobile Web 2.0. In the second part of this Mobile Web 2.0 discussion I'm going to just make a few points that I think got lost in the discussions on the panel and give a bit of reasoning behind them. As I said before I believe in mobi-web 2.0 which is new innovative mobile solutions that break through the boundaries of the mobile issues such as multiple operating systems, multiple devices, languages etc. I also have ......

Socialtext launched Miki (mobile wiki)
Just been looking through my rss feeds and I HAD to let everyone know about Miki! The new mobile wiki solution from SocialText. Why... because I was only talking to some people on Monday evening about mobile wiki's not yet really being here. I think that is one step closer to web 2.0 hitting the mobile! What do you say Mobile Monday people! Ross and I chatted quite a bit last time he was in London at wiki wednesday about this and it looks like he finally managed to get a workable solution so I have ......

Mobi-Mashup (Anyone in the UK fancy it?)
Hi people.. I was at Mobile Monday earlier this week and something that came up was that devs here in London would quite like to get together over a few drinks and do some mobile dev stuff and work together to solve issues in the industry and maybe bypass some of the issues that the OS and the network operators cause. If you fancy catching up over a drink, with your laptop this weekend in London or know somewhere really good that would work as a venue that is free and doesn't mind us hooking upto ......
