March London Girl Geek Dinner Announced!

Well another month and another London Girl Geek Dinner has been organised, and this time the hostess is Katy Pearce! (Well done Katie for taking the initiative!) She has managed to get Cory Doctorow to come and do a talk on all things techie, sci-fi and geeky! Speakers

Featuring Cory Doctorow!

Cory is, in his words, "an activist, a writer, a blogger, a public speaker, and a technology person." He is also one of four editors on the most linked-to blog around, boingboing.net. From 2002 until January of this year, Cory was the Director of European Affairs for the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a technology advocacy nonprofit that works to upload liberty in technology law, policy and standards. Now he remains an EFF fellow, but is focusing more on writing. Cory is also on a number of tech-related advisory boards and boards of directors, including those of the Participatory Culture Foundation, the Open Rights Group, the MetaBrainz Foundation, Technorati Inc, Onion Networks, and others; as well as the conference committee for the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference. He also co-founded the open source P2P technology company OpenCola, which was sold to OpenText in 2003. To learn more about Cory, check out this page: http://www.craphound.com/

If you would like to be a speaker for one of our events please put your details here or e-mail sarah.blow at gmail.com and let me know who you are, how to contact you and the subject that you would like to speak on.

Valentines Trouble!

Someone sent flowers to my office today for Valentines day with "if only..." on the attached card. Now I have no idea who on earth would send them to me?! If you have any clue I would love to know who you think they are from?! If you sent them I would like to know... I am curious!

I also got a card but I don't know who that was from either, I am assuming that the two things are totally unconnected... Maybe I am wrong on that front. I have no idea. :S Usually my Valentine's days are really uneventful, but this time no such luck...

And before anyone who thinks they can get away with owning up to the flowers or card even if they didn't send them, I will be asking questions about sort of flowers and what the card had on it ;) I will hopefully find out who my secret admirer(s) is.

On a different note, I will get back to mobile blogging soon! I promise... I have been a bit side tracked by other fun technologies and stuff recently. :)
