Mobile TV to hit Oxford!

I just got an e-mail about the following article... Mobile TV trial to launch in UK

It is an interesting trial... The question I have is why would people want tv on their mobiles... It is not as though you can watch it on a train on your way home from work... There's never any reception. You can't watch it in the car for the same reason... and you can't watch it whilst wondering around you end up bumping into people! So what is the point?

I think we need to look into UWB and the effects of this on companies such as the BBC... This is going to have a much wider impact on the future of television type technologies.

I hit Oxford every night, but that's hardly news :)

You're right to question why this is "a good thing"(tm) though. I don't watch enough TV to justify subscribing to something like this, nevermind the difficulties (and cost) of maintaining signal quality while on the move, especially for TV. My friend Adam recently put a HTPC in his MPV and to maintain signal integrity, he had to use a mobile-optimized dual tuner card which cost him an arm, a leg, and the best of the remaining thigh.
