Bits 'n' pieces

I was going to sit down this evening and write loads of stuff on .net mobile stuff... but I got a bit distracted/ sidetracked with the girl geek party stuff.

We have quite a few girls going to the party so far... 13 girls and 2 guys. Well I did promise the guys could come so long as they brought a geek girl with them. We still have a couple of weeks until the final numbers are counted. I'm impressed that people are hearing about it. The social network is definately working.

I think we have decided not to go all serious like the usual geek dinners, and not to have a speaker, at least not this time - unless someone is desperate to do so... ;) And no Dave I am not doing it, before you ask.

I have been getting very bored of XML and XSLT validation stuff at the moment. I guess you can get XSLT'd out after a while. Eventually I will get to code something fun. Oh well... On the plus side I am off up to Scotland on Wednesday/ Thursday and then off to Belgium the week after for 3 days. (all work related so no holiday just yet... I sooooo need to sort out going on holiday)

When I get round to it I am going to have a think about what sort of things I usually get stuck on when I haven't touched the mobile .net stuffs for a while. Those silly little things that are just quirky enough to forget. That sort of thing... I think. Eventually i will get round to playing with VS 2005 then I can have a look at the new emulator that everyone keeps talking about... All good from what I hear...

Knowing me though I will get to play more with Vista first! :)

VS 2005 for device developers is truly awesome. I've been using Whidbey on & off for the last 18 months, but for the last 6 months it has been my main IDE... all I can say is good ridence to VS .NET 2003!

The emulators rock, especially since you can use 'em in Virtual PC (which is great for demos, etc). You can even install them without installing VS 2005.

I think I will leave the talking to Hugh or anyone else who wants to stand up in front of 25+ girlies... I'll get all nervous and shy...

Are you sure you don't want to come along with your missus? You'll enjoy yourself, I promise.

I would love to come ... but my wife isn't a geek at all and really has no interest in going.

Could I 'borrow' someone thats already going? (Tell them I'm hunky :o)

Yes you could do a speech, shy you? Naah.

I started my wedding speech, "I was alittle nervous so I prepared a few lines eariler, now I've snorted them, I feel fine" :o)

Do you want to borrow me. I'm not bringing anyone with me at the moment, it would be nice to have you there. Hugh has decided he will be the uber geek and speak on marketing hacks...

And yes I can be shy! Honest... I just try not to show it most of the time. Knowing me I will be fussing all evening wondering if everyone is enjoying themselves!!! At least that is how it has been when I have organised events in the past.

Then again I have learnt to deal with both the positive and negative criticism. You learn from mistakes of the past.
