Best thing about being in Software Industry is that you never get bored. I think this is one of the fields where one can learn about different domains.
One time you would be working for an HR related project, knowing the entire business logic is fun. Then you might move to a financial project, which is obviously challenging (I remeber working on a Portfolio Management application and learning all about basic equity trading in the process!).
There are numerous businesses where software is required: Benefits Administration, People management, Trading, CRM, ERP etc etc..the list is long!
It's not only about coding: design patterns, project management, business analysis..so many things..!
And when you keep working in an environment where things keep changing, you tend not to get bored soon, as new challenges lie ahead. Besides, the software industry itself is huge and there is always tons of information and concepts to learn and grasp. Learning is always never ending.
I love this industry!
