Liam Westley His incoherent ramblings

Not wanting to fiddle with my main corporate web site hosted by by bouncing it to ASP.NET 2.0 (it's currently running ASP.NET 1.1), I decided to do some research into 2.0 hosting.  I was genuinely surprised at how little it cost to get a development site up and running.  I registered a '' domain for just over £6 (US$10 or so) with, and then setup my hosting with DiscountASP net (try the promotion code to get free setup and 6 months free hosting).  Total price, US$60 for 12 months hosting, including POP3 e-mail.  Even with UK VAT @ 1.175% this is only around £45.

£50 for two years domain registration and 12 months hosting, bargain.  By the time the 12 months are up I can decide if I am moving fully over to ASP.NET 2.0 on the main site, and can dispense with the 'development' domain.

I'll let you know my experience of DiscountASP over the coming months.

I have the same setup, 123-reg and with sql. I can't fault, great company to host with.

It would be great if offered hosted exchange as an alternative to pop email, an add-on i would definately pay for.
