Orkut Crap

I know it is still in beta, but when a normal person gets error it should be understanable to him and getting geeky coding errors does not help his frustration of not being able to get into the system.

I kept on getting this error message today for a long time before I stopped trying to get into the system.

A very innocent comment on my Blog+ Visas for USA
At first I thought that is was funny comment, but then I thought it was innocent too. I can feel the pain for so many people who want to go out of their countries to do something, and to be something, but they are rejected by the consulate's in their country which is sad. I know many many families in India who just want to meet their children living in America and go there for few weeks or few months, but their visas are rejected with no good reason at all. Does US consulate think that these people ......

How to alert Blog readers continued?
I read Michael's Blog and that he wants a better blog alert system. I agree to him that we cannot (or there is not need for it) to subscribe to every blogs feed that we comment on. Below are my suggestions. Well I agree, that there is a problem here, but here are my suggestions:- 1) As you said, blogs should have notify function in them, yes might be helpful, but think of negatives too, how many people would provide their right email address on the blogs? I know aboutmyself, I never do, although ......

Email, Superstitions & SPAM
Some of my good and caring friends do become my enemies at times. My well educated friends, who are doctors, graduates, chartered accountants, teachers, developers and engineers are stupid and superstitious. Every now and then I recieve chain email telling me to “forward this email to 10 of your friends and you will win 100000 dollars in a month time” or “send this email to 15 people or your family member will die” and many many more headings that come up every month. My friends ......

De gunk your computer
Many of my friends complain that their machines are slow, or they cannot find 'things' on their computer, their computer crashes often, software are not responding properly and few other common complains and my best buddy Nirav has a habbit of formating his machine every time he find a problem on his PC, as he thinks that that is the best solution to fix the issue (you are right if you are thinking that he is using lot of his time just rebuilding his PC, when he could be using his time doing some ......

For Some people blogging never stops
“For Some, the Blogging Never Stops” says Kathie Hafner. She writes “Blogging is a pastime for many, even a livelihood for a few. For some, it becomes an obsession. Such bloggers often feel compelled to write several times daily and feel anxious if they don't keep up. As they spend more time hunkered over their computers, they neglect family, friends and jobs. They blog at home, at work and on the road.” & “Of course, most of those millions are abandoned or, at best, ......

My Orkut Newsletter
I just got an Orkut Newsletter in my email, had never got this before, hmmn, is a cool thing, shows some simple statistics in a simple manner. I wonder how does it recommend new friends as outlined below? I checked their profile and all of them are people working on .NET and one of them is Datagrid Girl. I also realised that I should be making friends at an International level, just from looking my friends list I see more Indians than any other nationality. The best thing I liked about Orkut is it's ......

Software shipment to software patch process
More and more software vulnerabilities are found on a daily basis for Operating Systems to small applications. Millions and billions of dollars worth of productivity is sometimes lost becuase of all these software vulnerabilities. How does this vulnerability get into the software? They are there because of programming errors that went out in the packaged software. Reviewing this code is important from the security point of view. If secure coding methods are applied it helps the software maker in ......

Steve Rubel goes on a Blog only diet
OK, this is third continous post which links to something that Steve Rubel is saying. Steve Rubel is going on a blog only information week, in which he will only read blogs for a week time, no newspapers and no news websites and wants to test at the end of the week whether he has the same information by reading all the blogs that he would have otherwise. Characteristics of 'Influentials'
First of all what is 'influence'? One meaning of the word 'influence' as defined in the dictionary is “Power to sway or affect based on prestige, wealth, ability, or position. “ Influential people are everywhere and in every field, some influence more than others do. People look upto influential people. I am not sure if I am 100% correct, but can be say that Robert Scoble is a influential person and helped change the way corporates look at the blogging now. Personally speaking, his way ......

Steve Rubel links me to an article on how real estate agents are using blogs as a tool now. I think it is a great idea and has many advantages. Apart from the fact that real estate agents can use them to advertise or market about their clients, they can also periodically hand out tips that clients should be aware of while buying or selling real estate, there can be tips on renting of properties and a lot.
