I don’t know how many times I’ve heard of this issue, but it never happened to me…until recently, that is.
What a bummer!
I was trying to get into the Admin interface of our QC app when I received it. I tried a lot of different things…unregistering/re-registering the DLL, rebooting, etc. I tried a lot of the solutions online involving checking permissions on the file, my rights, etc.
Finally, I looked at the problem from a different direction.
I remembered that on a machine that had previously never opened QC, the components are D/L to the machine and stored in \Program Files\Common Files\Mercury Interactive\Quality Center. So, I renamed the original folder to something like Quality Center_Old, and tried to open QC Admin page.
The components downloaded, were registered, and presto! The Admin page opened just fine.
It was, in effect, hitting the issue in the head with a big hammer, but ultimately was the fastest and most effective solution.
Hooray for big hammers!
