Manager-isms

My manager is back making whole sentences out of clichés..

We have a weekly meeting and I have begun estimating how things are going based on how many he uses. Usually, it is a rough indicator. When he gets upset, he tends to speak quickly. Sometimes, this turns out funny.

For example, I to 2 in a sentence might indicate a pretty good week, standard, nothing special. 3 -4, he's mildly troubled, or he is hearing things at leadership level that means something is coming.

Today, for example, he was discussing a major project that is being delivered late. Here's what he had to say:

“When you Bend Over Backwards (1) Trying to be a team player (2) for the Good of the Company (3) you’re on the Double-Edged Sword (4... not sure if this one counts since 'on' the sword is an incorrect usage of the cliché) which means you're Damned If You Do and Damned If You Don’t (5), but that's the Nature of the Beast (6) and you have to Make a Call (7) on whether or not you should take a Couple of Turns (8) on things".

I was speechless and wondered if we should all be preparing to Get the Heck Outta Dodge…
