Look what I am reduced to.....

For the past two weeks, I have been writing manual test cases. Our manual team's workload has not allowed for the freedom of time to allow me to do automation as I was supposed to do. So far, there is no end in sight, either. Whilst I don't mind helping out and realize this isn't the end of the world, I wasn't hired to spend 46 hours in a week writing test cases in Quality Center based on some of the worst requirements I have ever seen.

Ah, well....beats being on the road, I guess....

Right????

Actually, it does. I am happy as heck to be home with Sheri and we can being working on a family in earnest. I just wish I was able to do the job I was hired to do.

Geekin' out with old books

I have been re-reading the Thomas Covenant books tread many years ago as a child. It seems odd to refer to myself as a child, but I suppose I mean it in ways other than age. I guess I was 15 or 16, and at the time I certainly didn't think I was all that much a child. No, I meant child in the sense that I saw the world through a child's eyes. It has been most fascinating to see what stands out to me now that didn’t so much then. The character of Covenant always intrigued me, and yet, I was rather confused by him also.

Now that I am older, I actually understand him better and appreciate conflict in him. He is the perfect Anti-hero, and Stephen R. Donaldson does a good job of creating a character that we despise and find repugnant. We are also compelled to read and follow him.

If there is some classic literature you liked as a child, take a moment to re-examine some of your old favorite. It’s totally worth the time.

Next up, the Icewind Dale trilogy (per a buddy's recommendation). :-)
