Well, looks like I am going to have to learn more about WinRunner in order to automate the software testing at work. QTP just doesn't fully support Delphi applications. Apparently, it's considered to be technology that is too old to spend the time on it. Mercury (or HP if you prefer) has an official statement saying that WinRunner is the recommended approach for testing Delphi, PowerBuilder, and a whole lot of older development environments. So, I get to spend a bunch o' time getting more familiar with it. Guess it's something new...course, I always did want to learn technology that is 13 years old......
On a side note, I've been trying to interact with the rest of the automated tester community and have come to a conclusion based solely on my experience: If you think there are big egos in the development world, try meeting some of these clowns who run online forums and other sources of "help". Wow. I've never seen someone make a new person so quickly regret going to a forum for help.
Anyway, the new job is going ok. I am not getting to do what I am being paid to do, but I suppose that can't be helped. It is my hope that I can get more into something interesting soon. I know I am gaining domain knowledge and that's fine. However, the only code I've written since I got there is stuff I've written at home for grins. :-(
