Ever work one of those "This an Agile project to speed up getting features to production" type projects? 'Course we have; ain't we all? The one I am currently assigned to is like this. Trouble is that it ain't agile. If by the term agile you mean flying by the seat of your pants, coding while business is still working out what they want to see, giving QA little lead time, and clinging firmly to a release date regardless of the state of the product at the time of release, then this might be agile....

Well, looks like I am going to have to learn more about WinRunner in order to automate the software testing at work. QTP just doesn't fully support Delphi applications. Apparently, it's considered to be technology that is too old to spend the time on it. Mercury (or HP if you prefer) has an official statement saying that WinRunner is the recommended approach for testing Delphi, PowerBuilder, and a whole lot of older development environments. So, I get to spend a bunch o' time getting more familiar...

I was watching American Gladiators with Sheri on Sunday. I confess i was hoping it would remind me of the show I watched as a kid, I always loved it for reasons i can't even explain. My favourite event was Assault. Always loved watching the gladiators get beaten. I have heard it referred to as the original reality show. Well, either I have grown up too much too enjoy it, or It’s only a shadow of its former self; It's not bad, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe I'll Like it better after a few episodes....

Just got home from seeing Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Normally, I don't do musicals. I don't care much for them as a general rule. However, there are a couple I do like. I always liked "Guys and Dolls" (the movie version...thought Brando rocked), and a couple others. Add this one to the list. It was gory, but mostly in a classical way...not so much about what you see as what you don't see. Lots of blood, lots of suggestion, but not as bad as it certainly could be given the source...

So...new job going pretty well. Then, a major stumbling block. The main application we (our company) all day long is written in Delphi, and QTP isn't specifically supported with Delphi applications. There was a beta written for QTP 8.2, but there's no guarantee it will work with 9.2 (which we are on). I've tried it, and it has serious issues recognizing the objects in the app. If I can tell QTP explicitly the name of the control (btnOk, etc), I can get it to interact with the control.
