XBox 360: Apparently high rate of failure

Saw this article today. I had no idea that 360s have such a rate of failure. I remember reading that first gens had some trouble, but I guess the problems continue. I was also amazed at the numbers the entertainment division has in losses. Some serious coin, wow. Good thing MS as whole has so much cash.

Ah yes, the red ring of death. Fortunately we have not experienced a permanent red ring of death, but hubby reports we get one if the video cable isn't seated correctly. Hubby reports a lot of the failures he has seen at Wal-mart are due to people closing the 360 up in closed in entertainment units. Explains why there is a hefty secondary market in external cooling fans. Seems this puppy will overheat if you're not careful. But thankfully Microsoft has extended the warrantees to a full 3 years now.
